Use DBPR’s official license verification service when you want to confirm a real estate professional’s current status. Search the official record, then review the result carefully before relying on it for a transaction or employment decision.
- Open the official DBPR license lookup and choose a search method.
- Search by the professional’s name or license number. If you are exploring a local area, use the city or county search and narrow to the relevant real estate license type.
- Open the matching record. Check the full name, license number and type, current status, expiration information and any business or employer details shown.
- Compare the official record with the details supplied by the agent or brokerage. If the status or identity is unclear, ask DBPR for clarification before proceeding.
What should you check in the result?
A similar name is not enough to confirm a match. Ask the professional for their license number and brokerage details, then compare those with the official entry. Save the record or reference number and the date you checked so you can revisit the same result.
Review the status and expiration information together. If the record shows inactive, expired or another unfamiliar status, get an official explanation from DBPR. A business directory, professional association profile or marketing website does not replace the state’s current record.
FREC and DBPR: which resource should you use?
The Florida Real Estate Commission regulates real estate licensees and administers license law. Use DBPR’s online services for the public license record and your online account for renewal. Buyers in Orlando, Kissimmee, Punta Gorda and other Florida counties use the same state lookup.

Yes. The DBPR search offers a Search by City or County option, as well as searches by name, license number and license type. Use the individual record to confirm a match; a county search alone does not identify a specific professional.
